Admitted Student Information

A few weeks after being admitted to 61传媒tv, students receive an admitted student brochure in the mail. This brochure outlines the entire enrollment process in detail. You can also find these steps in the section of the 61传媒tv admissions website.

61传媒tv Portal

is a crucial step to get connected with 61传媒tv. Students will gain access to their 61传媒tv MIX email account and the deposit platform. Students are encouraged to check both their personal and 61传媒tv email accounts so that they do not miss important messages.

Academic Deposit

  • Secures a student鈥檚 place in the incoming freshman class.
  • Fully refundable up until May 1.
  • Cost: $250 for non-resident students and $150 for residents of West Virginia.
  • Students who wish to cancel their deposit prior to the deadline may complete our online .
    • Deposits are refunded on the credit card used for the payment or a check is sent by mail if payment was made from a bank account.
  • If a student chooses to defer admission or change their term for any reason, they should contact their admissions counselor prior to taking a cancellation step.

Academic deposit fee waivers are applied on an individual basis. Your would prefer to discuss fee waivers with the student and an individual who is assisting the student with their college journey. Please schedule a phone call with your regional recruiter to discuss our academic fee waiver policy.

Housing

  • Partially refundable up until May 1.
  • Students will be refunded $125 out of the $225 deposit.
  • When a student , a refund is automatically triggered.

New Student Orientation

  • New Student Orientation (NSO) does not require a deposit, but a fee will be added to the final tuition bill.
  • If a student registers for NSO, but ultimately decides not to attend 61传媒tv and does not participate in NSO, then they will not be charged this fee.

Adventure WV First-Year Trips

Adventure WV deposits are non-refundable, even if the student cancels their attendance. .

Daily Campus Tours and Personalized Visits

Campus visits are hosted Monday through Friday and on some Saturdays.

  • Students may take a campus tour, attend an information session and visit with academic and non-academic departments across campus.
  • Students may visit our Visitors Center to choose a date and time.
  • During the scheduling process, the students will be asked if they would like to schedule a separate academic department.

Discover 61传媒tv Open House days are hosted each fall on two separate Saturdays.

  • Geared towards seniors.
  • Students and parents choose sessions and experiences throughout the day that they would like to attend.
  • Sessions typically include the following: visit with an academic department, financial aid, student panel, parent panel, expert panel, residence hall visits, lunch on campus, classroom experiences and much more.

Decide 61传媒tv Open House days are hosted in the spring on two separate Saturdays for admitted students.

  • Geared towards admitted seniors.
  • Students and parents choose sessions and experiences throughout the day that they would like to attend.
  • Sessions typically include visits with an academic department, financial aid and the Honors College, panel discussions with students, parents and 61传媒tv experts, residence hall visits, lunch on campus, classroom experiences and much more.
  • Night before activities are an option as well.

Students and families can tour campus when they want, at their own pace 鈥 with an app to map their route and describe key locations.

Advanced Placement Equivalencies

  • AP scores must be sent to 61传媒tv directly from the College Board.
  • Most students tend to wait until all grades from all years are posted so that they only need to send one time (in May of the senior year).
  • Please note that in some cases scores will not reach 61传媒tv before students schedule courses during New Student Orientation.
    • In these cases, students will reach out to their adviser after their grades have posted if a course serves as a prerequisite for a 61传媒tv course they would like to schedule.
  • Once 61传媒tv reviews the AP course, the course will appear in .

Dual Enrollment

  • View our entire .
  • Students may use our to learn if a course will transfer to 61传媒tv.
    • If a course is not listed on the transfer database spreadsheet, students may submit the course to be reviewed by our transfer credit evaluators through our (TERR).
  • GPA earned in the dual enrollment courses will transfer into a student鈥檚 61传媒tv transcript.
  • In pass/fail cases, a GPA will not transfer unless the student earns a D/F grade.
  • A class is considered 鈥渄ual enrollment鈥 through the summer following the student鈥檚 senior year. Any class taken in the fall following the senior year would place the student into a transfer admissions status.

First-Generation Programming
For students whose parent/guardian doesn't have a four-year degree

develops programs to help our first-generation students succeed early. The FirstGen staff is available to:

  • Ensures a seamless transition from high school to college.
  • Offer academic help through our student success program.
  • Celebrate the achievements of our FirstGen students, faculty and staff.

Honors College
For students who meet GPA and ACT/SAT requirements

The reviews all 61传媒tv applications for eligibility on a rolling basis, after students have been formally admitted to the University. The Honors College will send eligible students an invitation by email to join the Honors College. This invitation letter contains instructions on how students can apply. Students should expect to hear from the Honors College within 1-2 weeks after receiving an admissions decision from 61传媒tv.

Incoming students must be admitted to 61传媒tv by March 28, 2025 to be eligible to apply to Honors. Honors applications for the fall term will continue to be evaluated for eligibility through April 16.

Requirements:

  • 3.7 High School GPA (weighted or unweighted), AND
  • 26 ACT or 1230 Redesigned SAT (M/EBRW)

LGBTQ+ Center
For LGBTQ+ students and allies

The supports educational social justice efforts and also provides a warm, comfortable atmosphere for organizing, socializing, teaching, and learning. All students, staff, faculty and community members are welcome at the LGBTQ+ Center.

Student Support Services
For students from disadvantaged backgrounds

Students Support Services, a federally funded TRIO grant program, serves undergraduate students who meet the following program requirements:

  • First-generation college student (neither parent/guardian has graduated from a 4-year institution)
  • Income eligible (as determined annually by the federal government)
  • Or have a disability and are registered with 61传媒tv鈥檚 Office of Student Accommodations

Tutoring
Subject-specific help and general academic skill development

61传媒tv students have access to many tutoring and academic support options on campus. For example, drop-in tutoring and tutoring by appointment are available in the Downtown Library and in the Bennett Tower Academic Resource Center. View the .

  • June-July: New Student Orientation
  • August 1: Students must be admitted by August 1 to qualify for merit scholarships. Test scores and GPA information submitted for already admitted students is not automatically applied to merit.
